New Home

So here it is...here are the photos of our new home....at least the before shots. It won't be finished before we move in as we don't have the funds to get it just so, but we are stripping it to bare bones and giving it all an undercoat before we move.

Should be an ongoing project, as is everyone's home eh!

Couch

I have completed my first major sewing feat.  This couch cover.  I haven't got a before picture, but its basically a black leather couch.  I went with a brown material from Ikea and some black piping.  OH's room has white walls and beige carpet, so wanted the couch to match but some homemade scatter cushions could really brighten up the look.  More projects to do.

I hope to plan and get super organised over the next month as Uni starts on 30th Aug.  Woohoo, how exciting :D

Proud of myself

Yesterday I completed a knitting project that I must have started around 5 years ago!! I love knitting, but never really enjoy the sewing up, which is strange as I love sewing..hmmmmmm.

Anyway here comes Santa Claus right down Santa Claus lane :)

I was in London on Friday at Hard Rock Calling and had fashioned myself a wee bag for the occasion using cut off's from my partners trousers. The patch I've put on has been embroidered-my first ever attempt- with a logo from a Pearl Jam album, whom were headlining.

Update

I have been soooo ill with the cold. However feeling much better.

I have been sewing....nothing that will impress anyone but me, but its been fun. I'm at my partner's house just now though, so I don't have my camera cable to upload any pics.

I just wanted to pop in and say hello.

Tomorrow is my last day at the primary school volunteering. The next time I'm in a school I will be on placement learning how to be a teacher. Can't wait, roll on August!!

Sunday 6 June 2010

I've been sewing like crazy - yay. As I'm starting teacher training in August, I volunteer at a local school and they are doing an assembly on tudor times. I've been re-jigging costumes from their store to fit the theme. I'm getting lots of practice which must be good. I also have cut my pieces for the quilt top so looking forward to getting the sewing machine out for that.

BIG NEWS!! I found my camera aaaaaaaargh!! how exciting. It was in a cleaning products bag and as I'm staying with my parents hadn't cracked it open. I think it must have fell in there before I moved.

I used printouts from freeprettythingsforyou.com to make wee ingredient cards for my handbag notebook, means if I get the urge to bake while in supermarket or anywhere I can double check as i always forget something.

The morning after...

Last night I managed to post my end of course assessement. I am absolutely ecstatic, however pooped, knackered, kaput.....oh dear. I have workshops in 3 hours, so have to wake up somehow.

I'm not sure the essay was anywhere near as good as it could've been, but I had to make the decision to not beat myself up and just post it.

Now its Graduation planning and organisation time :D

May Rudolph Day

Well I'm afraid I have to miss Rudolph Day today, but am postponing it!!

I am in an essay nightmare right now. Feel so close to giving in, but with it being the last of the course it would be silly. However I really seem unable to focus. My mind is full of everything but Children's Literature.

I have adored studying with OU in general, but this year it has been a step too far. There is too much going on around me. I will be so happy for it to be over. This course has nothing to do with my degree either so there is little motivation for finishing...but I will...I HOPE.

I graduate on Saturday and want to get all organised, but it just has to wait.

New Quilt

Tonight i started a patchwork quilt. It has been something I've been dying to do for at least 5 years. I have had some Christmas themed fat quarters sitting since that first desire.

So tonight i decided to bite the bullet and try. I am so chuffed with my two patchwork squares. Once i've used up the material i have I shall buy some plain coloured material to complement it. Although it doesn't look all that great, I've impressed myself with my new found 'skills'.

They only look so creased because I took the picture on my wibbly wobbly bed. Honest ;)

Pom Pom Decor

Oooooo I am on a roll. I have now created a pom pom decoration for above my table.

Yay.
The second picture should give some scale, thats my hand and foot!
I want to figure out how to make my posts neat and tidy. Once I have my essay in I will concentrate on that :)

Graduation Invites

Soooo with my graduation next week I've been preparing a mini party for my close family.

Have chosen a colour theme to go with my academic colours for the graduation. Am so excited about getting creative. Just love it..... had to cut the pic as cant figure out how to block my address but you can get the jist.

Notebooks

Tonight after dinner I got around to decorating the two notebooks I created a couple of months back. I am so determined to be an organised person, I thrive when I know whats going on and where. I think because its not 'the done' thing I followed the crowd.
However after finding 'organisedchristmas.com' and then 'magicalholidayhome.com' I realise that its ok to have lists in your life. Although I will still hide them from the majority of people I know. I love how the online community allows you your quirks! For me Christmas, Lists, Crafts and Baking...honestly its so unusual amongst my friends to be like that.
The first picture is my household notebook: renamed 'Home Scribbles'.
So the second picture is of my Christmas Notebook or now re-title 'Rudolph Planner' to fit in with the Rudolph Day plans!
Not sure how to seperate pictures, will need to do the tutorial to figure this all out!

Lost Camera

I feel like I've lost my soul!! I recently moved home but can't find my camera. Part of me hopes its just in the wrong box...but I'm not really convinced and now I don't have a camera. How do I record moments??

In the long term I know thats what i want for my Christmas :)

I was so excited about posting about my crafts and stuff....although I will use my phone, the pix aren't up to much, but better than nothing and...there are way more important things in life ;)

Hello?

Hello. I've decided to create a blog in order to become part of the blogging community.

I am currently living with my mum and dad to save money as I am doing a postgraduate course in Primary school teacher training.

I won't be able to compare to the blogs out there, but hopefully I will have something to contribute.

Here we go......
